Gross Motor Training

I just wanted to let everyone know that I went to a wonderful training about gross motor and obesity in children. It was put on by Head Start. There are such wonderful things that you can do with children to get them moving and they don't even know it!

By incorporating music about healthy foods and movement you can cover all areas of the spectrum. They are learning about math, literacy, nutrition, science, dramatic play and most importantly gross motor.

I was so excited about the training that I came home and tried the music out on my 3 year old son! He marched for a half hour and didn't tire of it. Then we did the freeze dance and he thought that he was stopping the music and was proud of himself! Every day after that he keeps asking to dance!

It was a very worth while training! Now I am trying to help my son get an hour of vigorous exercise play a day! It definitely helps with him going to sleep!

Be sure to check out my etsy story teachablemoment and ebay store teachablemoment for wonderful handmade flannel board stories! They are made from felt made from recycled plastic bottles! If you let me know you read about it here I will give free shipping on your order! Just email me after your purchase and I will take the shipping charges off! Just say that you read it on my blog!
